Eastern Spinebill & House Sparrows

These photos were taken this morning with the Nikon D3000 DSLR, on auto. After overnight rain, we’re having a gloomy day with sporadic sunshine. I spotted the spinebill out the kitchen window and rushed to grab the camera. I found the bird bathing in the spouting next door. You can see how small it is when alongside the sparrows.

After the tussle with the juvenile sparrow, the spinebill settled in a tree and groomed itself – far too many leaves and branches between us for more photos. Anyway, the sun had gone in.

Thanks for looking. 🙂

I started blogging in an effort to keep the old brain cells alive. I'm writing a fantasy series, I take more MOOCs than I can handle, and am trying to get my Nikon D3000 off auto. I live in Victoria, Australia, with my husband and our dog, Vika.
