Last Sunday, we went to Lake Eppalock, hoping to see pelicans.

We found a pair enjoying the flooding McIvor Creek, one of the many tributaries into the man-made reservoir. We had to cross the road. I climbed over the fence into private property to get closer.

Unfortunately, canoeists also enjoy a paddle in this pretty spot. Another five minutes, and I would have been closer. But, then again, they did distract the pelicans.

The photos of the pelicans flying away weren’t great, they merged too much with the tree trunks. I did get one decent shot as they circled about overhead.

We followed them across the road, to the lake, where I got some beaut photos for next time.

I started blogging in an effort to keep the old brain cells alive. I'm writing a fantasy series, I take more MOOCs than I can handle, and am trying to get my Nikon D3000 off auto. I live in Victoria, Australia, with my husband and our dog, Vika.

Tell me what you're thinking.
