A true story, it starts when Nathan Millward, visiting his girlfriend in Sydney, can’t get his visa renewed. Getting married so he can stay isn’t an option. Originally keen to motorbike from London to Australia in the first place, he’d worried his girlfriend might find someone else should he take that long to renew their acquaintance.

Nathan thinks it’s a great idea when she suggests he ride his postie bike home. With only two days to prepare, and just 20 days before his visa expires, he leaves Sydney for Darwin, intent on catching a boat to East Timor.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this well-told account of the journey from Sydney to London.  (I borrowed this book from my local library.)
